Coup D’état

Food, Clothing and Shelter are the three basic necessities of life.

The statement has been used as propaganda, idea, slogan and what not, to sensitize and fuel the masses and individuals since ages. However still, before commencing I would take the liberty bestowed upon me for being a citizen of a democratic nation to point that; Food, Clothing and Shelter are the basic necessities of the human life, other species often are content with either food or shelter or both, clothing has proven to be a need only for human life, at least till now. But, how is any of this information important to us?

It’s not; but the events that tend to humiliate the statement are; conversely they also provide the statement the glory which it has gained over the years; Migration as Refugees.

The world is not new to the concept of migration and migrants, they have been there since the dawn of humanity, and have been known to extend to majority of the species of the Earth. Similarly the concept of migration due to drastic and disastrous events is also not a news, world has been witness to innumerous natural events which were not only drastic, but also impactful enough to affect centuries and relative future. However, these events were natural and even if they were to occur today, humans could only lament, try to discover a solution and obviously migrate to better and safer terrestrials. But what if these events weren’t natural? What if these drastic events were direct results of some human err? And what if this human err was a deliberate and planned attempt for an objective, something which caters only to a group’s desires and breeds disaster, discord and plight for majority?

While the idea of Refuge Migration was brewing in my mind for a long time, it was the recent events in the very South Asian region, which also homes my nation, which pushed me to pen this article out.

First of February made its name as the day when finally the balloon which kept being aired finally burst. The Military of Myanmar, namely Tatmadaw, has officially, and illegally, declared a yearlong state of emergency in the nation.

Precisely, Myanmar is in a state of coup d’état.

I remember clearly of being introduced to the term while in school studying about Chile Military Coup of 1973, and wondering how such a dynamic step came to be taken. What were the events which led to a unit dedicated to safeguarding the nation to become its own exploiters? There were answers in the same book however, I understand them clearer today; that neither the 1973 Chile nor the 2021 Myanmar coup was a sudden move, but an explosion of the cracker, whose ignited wick was being fanned continuously.

In 2017, in the sunset of the year, world was made aware of a military led genocide of Rohingya community in Northwestern region of Rakhine in Myanmar. Today, we know that the event was in fact a Second Phase of a pre-initiated step; Phase 1 had already occurred from October 2016 to January 2017. The genocide was justified by the military as a retaliatory step to the attack on border police posts by Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army.

No military unit in this world shall do right or good if it ignores the attacks and attempts of militants; I stand by my previous statement, it is their duty to safeguard their nation and citizens, and by being numb it shall be impossible. However, a group of militants and a community are two different units. Even though the militant group was parading under the name of a community, yet the military only has a right to punish the militants and not the community. The move should have been not only condemned but also disciplined. However, neither the nation nor the world woke up to the act. Infact, the event caught due limelight when the neighboring nations had to bear the sudden burden of the Refugee Rohingya Migrants, this while Europe was already facing the similar Refugee crisis. It is that genocide of a minority community, which has finally blown out into a Power-lusted Military coup in Myanmar.

The past could be brow beaten about infinitely, but it would hardly be of any help; however the current affairs discussion and active awareness of ours might save thousands of civilians, similar to you and me, from losing their right to a democratic nation, and a respectful life.

The world slumbered while Rohingyas suffered; let us not continue, so that Burmese could be saved.

Since fake news is another fact insistent to our time, I would only provide news and related views on those which are coming from reliable sources and could be confirmed with a dedicated research; and would humbly request readers to not engage in the practice; we already have much to fight.

Good Day!
